Believe it or not, I went to school to be a meteorologist. No kidding.

I love storms and thought studying them would be my life’s passion. Turns out, physics and I are not friends and I ended up with a degree in geography that is not relevant to anything I do. What do I wish I had studied instead? Business. Pure and simple. It would have been a lot more useful in this journey of mine. My journey as a business owner began in the business-to-business world, creating a business with family members to sell new business leads. This little business kick-started my endeavor for business education and started a passion I didn’t know I had.

After 7 years, we decided to move on from that business and I joined the corporate world in IT.
It was fun while it lasted, but let’s be real, that’s a pretty restrictive environment and I was ready for more. I had played around with the idea of wedding planning for years and finally took the leap in 2005. I started my business in the wedding and events industry to serve couples getting married and help guide them through the crazy wedding world. I have thrived on managing all the intricate details that make an event successful and more so, helping people reach their dreams. It’s all about the details, but also keeping them and their personalities and values in mind.

To build my business in the events world, and because I love to volunteer, I jumped on boards and committees throughout the industry. (This is the quickest way to get referrals IMO.) I loved helping get these nonprofits organized, often taking leadership roles, brainstorming and supporting my colleagues, implementing systems and documenting policies and procedures to hand over to the next leaders.

That’s what I do when I talk to other business owners and nonprofit leaders too.

You see, being in charge can be lonely. In my 20+ years in the wedding and events industry and my 15+ years in nonprofit leadership, I’ve worked with and spoken to many, many business owners and nonprofit leaders and we’ve collaborated along the way. Supporting each other through advice, education and helping each other accomplish our goals. It’s awesome to see each other succeed and I love it. I’m also an education junkie. I love staying current with the latest trends, strategies, and tools when it comes to business systems and making it all work to deliver amazing services to my clients. I love attending webinars, reading books, and going to conferences, all in my quest to know more.

This knowledge not only benefits my company, but it’s what I use when I’m working with you on your organization.

This is where we talk about my direct yet supportive approach. As anyone who knows me would say, you’ll always know where you stand with me. I understand the challenges faced by these leaders and I know that sometimes tough love is necessary, but so is support. I will provide honest feedback and push you out of your comfort zone, but I’m going to take those steps with you. You are already doing a great job and succeeding, I’m here to get you to the next level. I do that by understanding you, your values and goals, and collaborating with you on how to get there. Then we take action!

A FEW FUN FACTS

ABOUT ME

Helping small business leaders take their business to the next level

01.

I’m an if you see something, say something kind of woman. I will always stand up for what I believe in and for others who need help.

02.

I love to volunteer. I can’t help it. It’s where I find community, can easily be generous, and learn more about others’ journeys. When you learn more about your fellow humans, it opens your eyes to new worlds, new thoughts, and new passions. (Thus The NonProfit Nook)

Trusted partner for small businesses looking to take their business to the next level

03.

I’m a cat person, even though I’m allergic to almost all animals (and pretty much everything else). Our family cat is Max and he deserves the name weighing in at 20 pounds. He loves people, and is smart but also very sensitive. We love to cuddle on the couch and watch West Wing together.

04.

SciFi/Fantasy books are my jam, but so are business books, self-help books, and biographies of interesting people. I’m trying to find more time in my life to read because I tend to collect books and need to catch up!

Values

These are the values I bring into every coaching conversation — and the ones I look for in the leaders I work with.

1. Intentional Partnership

I get to know what’s truly important to you—your goals, your challenges, your vision—and we work together toward meaningful outcomes. This isn’t surface-level support; it’s collaborative, invested, and built on mutual trust.

2. Honest, Real Conversations

I believe in authenticity. You’ll get my honest perspective—backed by experience, not ego—and I’ll always tell you the truth in a way that helps you move forward, not stall in uncertainty.

3. Creativity & Open-Mindedness

There’s no single “right” solution for every situation. I welcome new ideas and tailor support to fit you, not a template. Growth comes from exploration and adaptability, not rigidity.

4. Inclusivity & Respect

Everyone deserves support that respects their identity, values, and lived experience. I’m committed to working with leaders from diverse backgrounds and championing equity in every conversation we have.

5. Joy & Real Connection

Leadership is serious work, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the journey. Laughter, shared triumphs, and human connection matter—they make the tough parts easier and the wins sweeter.

6. Lifelong Learning

I value growth—not just in business or systems, but personally and professionally. As I sharpen my skills, I bring more insight and impact into our partnership.
